Success Formula

Welcome to Weekly Whisper #155.

Life’s irrefutable success formula

I know, it’s a lofty title. It’s kinda true but also because I believe if you read further you might be reminded of something that will sustain or progress any life success you’ve had to date.

I recorded a podcast recently with Paul Dalton, a colleague of mine who specialises in mindfulness (see the link below if you haven't listened yet), and one of the verbal gifts he shared was a 3 step process to begin a mindfulness practice.

I’ve built on it within the context of life because I thought it translated really well.

Here it is. Are you ready?

LIFE'S IRREFUTABLE SUCCESS FORMULA

Step 1 – Set an intention

What do you want to get better at? What do you want to improve? What do you no longer want to suffer?

Step 2 – Do something

Take a moment. Breathe. Do 1 push up. Stretch. Go for a run/walk/ponder. Go into nature. Reach for the ‘apple’ not the ‘donut’. Put your phone in another room – the list is endless.

Step 3 – Get distracted

I laughed out loud when Paul suggested this step because it felt so true. Despite my good intentions and knowledge of what to do and even once I’ve started I often fall off the wagon and life gets in the way.

Step 4 – Begin again

Simple yet profound. Begin again. Start again. Do what you did in Step 2…again.

If anyone is wondering how they should begin again…with something small enough that they can repeat the following day.

This is how momentum is built.

This is how success in life is progressed and sustained.

This is what to do with your one wild and precious life.

Freedom Fridays Episode 85 Featuring Paul Dalton

In Episode 85 of the Freedom Fridays Podcast Pete chats with Paul Dalton, a specialist mindfulness teacher. They dive in to the whys, whats and what nots of all things mindful – why has the concept gained traction over the last decade or so?; what is it in comparisons to something like meditation?; What are the biggest mistakes people make in trying mindfulness techniques?

If any of you talk to yourself and have ever pondered the philosophical question ‘who am I talking to?’ then the conversation will offer a possibility.

If you are feeling overwhelmed and a little off your A game then this conversation isn’t to be missed with lots of practical, simple tips to get started or continue being more mindful.
