#160
Aug 05, 2024Welcome to Weekly Whisper #160.
Surround yourself with people whose eyes light up when they see you coming
André De Shields won a TONY award at the ripe young age of 73.
In his acceptance speech he shared his three cardinal rules for longevity in the arts.
Concise, enlightening and a prophetic reminder for us all.
- Surround yourself with people whose eyes light up when they see you coming
- Slowly is the fastest way to where you want to be
- The top of one mountain is the bottom of the next, so keep climbing
How should I surround myself?
- Be the person whose eyes light up when you see them coming.
- Visibly with enthusiasm.
- Are they left full or empty?
- Energised or drained?
How should I go slow?
- Intentionally.
- Tiny steps at a time to build consistency.
- Trajectory is more important than position.
How should I climb?
- Slowly, with eyes lit up around you 😊
- Climb your own mountain, the trips, falls and difficulties that no-one else will see
- Keep climbing anyway
