Man in a suit covering his ears, symbolizing blocking out negative inner dialogue. Related to Weekly Whisper #164 about managing self-talk like a 'small dose friend'ā€”helpful in small doses but essential to separate from when it becomes overwhelming.

Welcome to Weekly Whisper #164.

Small dose friend

We’ve all got them.

Friends we can only tolerate in small doses.

Friends that we love to bits but can only be in their company for short periods of time.

They can be too intense for our own nervous system.

They can be overly negative or cautious.

They catastrophise and make us aware of possibilities that will never happen.

In the spirit of banter, they remind us of what we’re not good at and where we lack.

Can you imagine living with them… horror scream emoji!!

Can you imagine being in their energy field all day!!

Can you imagine having them on your shoulder constantly pointing out what might go wrong.

Yep, love ‘em but you certainly don’t want to live with ‘em.

Ironically, that friend does live with us.

They live with us constantly and repeat, repeat, repeat some of the scenarios above.

That ‘friend’ is our inner dialogue and lives in our head.

Often a blessing but regularly a curse.

So, treat your inner dialogue a bit like you’d treat a small dose friend… ok in small doses and also ok to separate yourself from now and again.
