Welcome to Weekly Whisper #169.

In Joy Mint

Recently, someone picked me up on the way I pronounce a certain word.

Because of my Scottish accent I’ll often pronounce the word ‘enjoyment’ as in-joy-mint.

I’m sure if you try your best Scottish accent and you roll your R’s you can hear it.

Most of the time, most people will hear ‘enjoyment’ and ignore the lack of sophistication in my accent.

But the pick up did make me wonder something (of course it would 😊).

Maybe en-joy is created by something external to us that we can find joy in, and in-joy is created by something internal that we can also find joy in.

Maybe en-joy is when something good happens outside us, and in-joy is when something good happens within us.

Maybe en-joy needs an external stimulus, whereas in-joy needs minimal stimulation.

Maybe en-joy is looking out and in-joy is looking within.

Maybe en-joy feeds the in-joy or maybe in-joy feeds the en-joy.

Maybe en-joy is circumstantial where in-joy might be limitless.

I appreciate it’s a play on words but if you are seeking more joy perhaps look inside as much as you look outside.

You can choose which mints 😊

Episode #88 Featuring Glin Bayley

In Episode 88 Pete chats to Glin Bayley – colleague, author and negotiation Specialist about her new venture, The Value Negotiator and the accompanying book The Negotiation Playbook.

An in depth discussion pointing directly at the wide range of contexts that are negotiable. If you’re interested in negotiating bigger, better deals; negotiating a better salary; negotiating with the kids on screen-time; or even negotiating with yourself, this is a must listen. Glin shares her expertise and touches on topics such as ‘power with’ rather than ‘power over’ and 5 steps to negotiate anything.
