Welcome to Weekly Whispers #18
What whisper did you hear from #17?
Have you considered your working hours? Did you count them?
Did you use the floating rock stress-reduction technique?
How much are you willing to pay to make the inspiration work for you?
What’s the balance you have between looking backward and living forward?
Here's what's struck me this week?
1. 110 ways to be a better communicator
Ok, I know, 110 is obviously far too many to comprehend in one sitting. Click here for the summarised list or watch the TEDx talk below.
2. How many friends should you have?
150 according to Dunbar’s number.
This is a fascinating deeper dive into our ability to connect with people. From our romantic partner to our acquaintances what are we capable of for a fulfilling life?
Check this link out for some interesting research.
3. Quote of the week: "Unhappiness comes in comparison"
Often our expectations of life are judged in contrast to others, particularly those we perceive to have ‘more’.
Happiness can also come in comparison. Happy that we’re grateful for what we have compared to many others.
So next time you’re feeling a little despondent based on a comparison of someone or thing that has more, be kind to yourself and consider how happy you could feel by comparing your situation to many others.
4. Question of the Week: What's before you or what's for you?
When we’re in the middle of something – good or bad – we often focus on what’s before us. What’s immediate that needs taking care of right now. What’s in front of us that needs tending to.
Something to ponder…what’s for you in this situation? What's this situation teaching you most about? What’s it teaching you for the future?
Of course, many situations require our immediate or considered response but on reflection it’s worth considering what’s for you in this situation?
5. Freedom Fridays - My weekly experiment with time and focus
My intention is to openly share a change I’m making within my life. I’m hoping you can take the lessons learnt and apply them to any change you want to make.
This week looks at music, the events that are happening on the periphery of our lives and how instructive they can be, and Pete ponders a simple question that could have a big impact.
Check out Episode #16.
That's all for this week and I hope you enjoyed Weekly Whisper #18.
Feedback is my fuel so if you have any comments please hit reply and let me know your thoughts.
Cheers
Pete
