“I’ve never met a strong person with an easy past” Atticus
This quote perfectly captures a truth about life that’s hard to ignore: strength is often born from struggle.
It’s in the challenges, the failures, and the storms we weather that we find our capacity to grow.
And our growth usually happens after the storm has subsided.
The amount of ‘storm’ you can endure is directly proportionate to the strength you build afterwards.
When you’re in the midst of a storm, it’s hard to feel and see any gain at all.
Failure feels like a full stop.
Disappointment feels like it will last forever.
Frustration feels like an anchor around your neck.
The ‘storm’ could be anything you’re facing right now—personal setbacks, professional disappointments, or the weight of unspoken fears.
But just like the storms in nature, no matter how fierce they are, they don't last forever.
And it’s through these experiences that we build resilience.
So, ask yourself: What ‘storm’ am I facing today?
‘What storm am I facing today that will eventually pass?’
‘What storm am I facing today that will eventually pass and I’ll recover from?’
‘What storm am I facing today that will eventually pass and I’ll recover from and gain strength from?”
