#51
Apr 25, 2022Welcome to Week #51
Are you wonder full?
In our busy lives, as our attention is attracted to the novel and the shocking, it’s easy to forget the beauty and wonder in front of us. We’ve forgotten to look and see the wonder in the ordinary, the wonder in the mundane.
Next time you have 2 minutes to spare, pause and look around. Go on do it now, I’ll wait. We’ve become so accustomed to some miraculous things being ordinary that I suspect we are wonder-empty!
Take a minute a day to fill your cup with the beauty and miraculous all around and become wonder full.
Feeling less alone in a feeling always makes it easier to tolerate
Often when we are experiencing challenging, confronting, or uncomfortable feelings it can feel like we’re on our own. Being reached by someone else – seen, heard, or held – can make the feeling easier to tolerate. A feeling shared, heard, understood, or recognised can make the discomfort a little bit more tolerable.
Next time you notice someone feeling something uncomfortable reach out to them. They’re usually not looking for a fix or a quick turnaround but simply someone else to share what it feels like for them. You’ll never know when that could support someone in ways you don’t even know.
Question of the week: Where do you go when you don't know where to go?
Whether it’s a physical or mental place and you’re a bit lost – where do you go? For example, do you go inside or outside? Do you seek solitude or company? Do you take the dogs for a walk or binge on the latest Netflix series?
Next time you don’t know, notice what you do and what your pattern is – it’ll help you discern whether going there is helpful or hindering.
Quote of the week: "You're not failing because you're lost" Sarah Blondin
We’re obsessed with trajectory, progress, and making things better. When the occasional pause or life detour comes along we get stuck in assuming we’ve failed along the way. Then we might repeat the various fail forward or fail fast mantras.
Perhaps we’ve forgotten that meandering and not necessarily having clarity might be us forging a new and different path.
So next time you’re ‘failing’ pretend you’re falling into a new place and accept all is not lost.

An exploration of what freedom means. Through a series of conversations with experts and leaders in their field, we explore some of the ways we can be free from whatever is holding us back. We’ll share some of the ingredients – easy, hard, and almost impossible.
The lessons are hiding in open sight within the conversation – it’s up to you how you apply them.
