#97
Apr 17, 2023Welcome to Whisper #97.
When you get clear on your purpose it bleeds into every interaction
I’m sure you’re all aware of the importance and influence of why. Many will have watched or will be aware of Simon Sinek’s Golden Circles. We know that people not only buy what you do but also why you do it.

What I’ve found fascinating in working with clients is once you initiate the thought process of understanding why you do what you do then it bleeds into every interaction.
When asked or prompted of course there’s every reason to state your purpose. However, seeking clarity on why you’re doing what you do starts to effect how you are showing up in every interaction. It’s subtle for sure but changes the energy you project. It can change your response to questions and objections. It can help provide clarity on what you stand for and what your point of view is on something…without even stating it.
Even if it’s just directionally, seek clarity on why you do what you do and it will impact every interaction. Once you begin that journey of connecting head to heart it bleeds into every interaction.
People are strange: They are constantly angered by trivial things, but on a major matter like totally wasting their lives, they hardly seem to notice – Charles Bukowski
Of course, this isn’t the case for everyone but it did make me stop and think about something – how many people spend so much time planning the wedding but not planning the marriage?
How many people are running their diary by the constraints of Outlook instead of their own North Star?
How many people concern themselves with what their mouths consume but not what their minds consume?
How many people are consumed by what happened yesterday or might happen tomorrow and lose what is happening now?
How many people are planning their holiday but not planning their life?
Where are you getting sucked into the trivial instead of focusing on the major?
Question of the week:
What’s life asking of you right now? And what are you asking of life?
Philosophical I know but take a moment to ponder the questions. What’s showing up in your life that perhaps is testing you? Are you testing life at the edges?
Quote of the week:
How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives - Annie Dillard
How are you spending them? How could you be spending them? Does your life balance sheet need a little re-ordering?
Freedom Fridays Podcast Episode #70 Featuring Richard Oakes
In episode #70, Pete chats with Richard Oakes. Richard is Group CEO for the Ohten Group, a serial disruptive thinker, and a world record-holding cyclist. The conversation touches on finding your why but looking inward not necessarily outward.
Pete & Richard discuss how choices can be inefficient and in taking the choice out, it speaks to who you are. Richard shares how his love of cycling gave him freedom and what it takes to be a world champion.
That's all for this week. If you’ve been enjoying the Weekly Whispers please feel free to forward it to friends and anyone you think would benefit.
As always, send your feedback and let me know your thoughts - [email protected].
Cheers
